KRAV Maga Master Eyal Yanil-ov gave Territorians some sharp pointers on how to avoid knife attacks when in Darwinrecently.
The chief instructor of Krav Maga Global, an Israeli self-defence system, visited Krav Maga Darwin as part of his
Mr Yanilov taught a children’s class on assertiveness and confidence, and an adult workshop on defending against knife attacks. “There have been a lot of
gun attacks around the world, like in Paris, but still the number of attacks with knives is much higher,” he said.
“In America I would focus more on gun attacks and car jackings, but in Australia there are a lot more knife attacks.”
Krav Maga student and paramedic Derek Archer said the workshop helped him consolidate previous training.
“Eyal brings a different perspective to the movements we’re doing, which helps solve the problem from a different point of view,” he said.
Krav Maga Darwin founder Adam Gulla said Mr Yanilov studied under the founder of Krav Maga and brought with him a wealth of knowledge. “Darwin students got the opportunity to experience
training straight from Israel,” he said.
Mr Yanilov finished his visit with a dip in the Cage of Death at Crocosaurus Cove.
